London Cheese and Wine Festival 2013
The celebration of Britain’s finest ethical and artisan produce, the Cheese and Wine Festival, is back in its firth year now. The event has some of the best wine and artisan cheese which is produced without any adulteration and promises to be excellent in terms of taste and quality. You can be a part of the event on 26, 27 (Fri & Sat 11am-8pm) and 28 April 2013 (Sun till 6pm) at Southbank Centre Square, Belvedere Road, Southbank, London SE1 8XX.
Like the previous years, this year also has demonstrations, workshops, discussion and tutored tastings, and involves hands-on cooking as well. Various companies will be displaying a carefully selected assortment of cheeses and wines from around the world. If you love cheese and wish to do more about it, then you could also try the cheese making kits, cheese-cakes, accessories, etc.
There are various events that are scheduled to take place during these 3 days, all taking place in a covered exhibition area. The events 26th April are a variety of hands-on workshops for veg-box concept, pasta, bread and cheese, Cooking demonstration with Trine Hahnemann: Danish crispbreads, cheeses and jam, daily quiz supported by Grana Padano and hosted by Valentina Harris, and Cheese tasting with Comté Cheese: The Four Ages of Comté by Florent Gacon.
Events on Saturday (27 April) include Hands-on workshop with Ghalid Assyb from A Pimlico Table: Mascarpone grissini and Gorgonzola rice salad, Demonstration of cheese-making with Michaela Allen of Norbury Park Farm Cheese, Cookery demonstration with David Mendes of Baking Dreams Together: Croissants, Cheese and Red Wine, Tutored cheese & beer tasting with Patricia Michelson of La Fromagerie, Cheese and beer pairing and tasting with brewer Rod Jones of Meantime Brewery, Tutored wine tasting with Judith Burns presenting The Wines of Croatia, and The daily quiz supported by Grana Padano and hosted by Valentina Harris.
The final day of the event, Sunday features Hands-on workshop with David Muniz of Outsider Tart: The Ultimate Cheesecake, Hands-on workshop with Romy Gill of Romy’s Kitchen: Cooking with Paneer, Tutored Wine and Cheese tasting with Tim Atkin, Master of Wine, and La Cave à Fromage, and Tutored Cheese tasting with Patricia Michelson of La Fromagerie.
The event gives you the unique opportunity of eating and learning about wine, cheese and various other scrumptious goodies! However, book yourself in advance for the workshops as these are ticketed events with limited spaces. In fact, if you have an apartment in Southbank or City, then you could easily be a part of all the 3 days of the festival and enrol for all the workshops.
