Many London districts claim to have perfected that oh-so-elusive historic and trendy double act, but Greenwich is one of the few areas that pulls off the look with effortless panache. A Thames shoreline that gently slopes upwards to a genuinely stunning green space is made all the more desirable by a dramatic three-sided view of the river.

Docklands may sparkle in the near distance, but Greenwich has cultural appeal in the form of the Royal Naval College, Cutty Sark and the O2 Centre. Add to that a plethora of chic eateries, nautically themed pubs and a funky market and you have an urban living space that scores heavily with hip young professionals and busy corporate types who love renting a home here.

Greenwich has the usual commuter links that help plug a neighbourhood into the London-wide transport web, however, it hosts a few connections that make it stand out from the crowd. A soaring cable car route takes off from the O2 and whisks passengers across the river and Docklands on its way to the Olympic village and the Excel centre. Modern clipper boats stop at the Cutty Sark pier en route to the City, Westminster and even go as far west as Kew. The DLR is a computer controlled transport system that is pointing the way for future train networks. Its' large windows and driverless operation are big attractions for commuters from Greenwich who wish to reach Docklands, the Square Mile and Westfield Stratford. A Jubilee line Tube stop and an additional overground route run directly to London Bridge and Waterloo rail hubs.
